Winning Advice from Jack Welch (Former C.E.O. of G.E.)

As a leader, it is no longer about you, it is about the people you are managing.~ Jack Welch

Great advice about being a great manager and running one of the greatest businesses in the world.

1. What are the traits you look for in people who became your key players?

I look for people who are smarter than me, people will energy, people who can get it done, people with edge and people who have passion.

2. How do you differentiate employees?

A leader’s obligation is to let everyone know where they stand in the organization. You praise the top 20%, the middle 70% knows how they can improve to get higher and you never forget them because they are a critical part of the organization, and the bottom 10% you tell them it is time for you to move on; it is not firing them, but allowing them to pursue something that they will enjoy or be better at. Most of them generally leave on their own.

3. What about employees who have bad bosses?

Employees need to first look at themselves. You can’t be a victim. Employees need to take charge of their lives.
